Velociraptor Pair on a Hunt

[Edit] I wanted to add to this since some people seem to be confused about the "hairy" look of the raptors. It's not fur, it's proto-feathers. Yes, raptors were most likely covered with a fine layer of primitive feather-like structures, and this idea is reinforced by closely-related dino finds, mainly from China, with obvious feathery imprints. Sinornithosaurus is the best example, and is VERY closely related to velociraptor.

Other feathery dinos include caudipteryx, protarchaeopteryx, sinosauropteryx, and archaeopteryx - all of which have been found with feather imprints. Secondly, some raptor skeletal features are REMARKABLY similar to those of modern birds, like the hip structure, pelvis and hand bones. Most paleontologists are pretty sure that modern birds descended from dinosaurs like velociraptor. I encourage everyone to read up on feathered dinos. Also, the coat pattern is derived from that of an ocelot.
