We Three Kings by EWilloughby We Three Kings by EWilloughby
We three kings of avian are
Migrant birds who travel afar.
Fluff and feather, snowy weather,
Pooping on yonder car.

(Belted kingfisher, eastern kingbird, golden-crowned kinglet)

This was my Christmas card design this year! I also submitted it to DeviantArt's Holiday Card Project.

This card design is for sale! Please spread the word if you are or know a dorky-humor bird lover. :D

Happy holidays, everyone!

Aww, cute lil' card design. Sometimes I forget how festive I think birds are, but they really fit the holidays ... for some reason. I love the way you draw feathers. Especially the kingfisher's wing is nice. I like the details in the eyes too. Kindlets are the best, I saw one up close last winter. Really cute little ball of fluff!
Also, funny how we want so many birds to be kings, eh?

Yeah, I had to debate whether to include a king penguin or a king parrot too. :) Ultimately settled on birds from the area I'm from, though.

And thanks! Kinglets are the cutest little birdlets.

There's kings all over! But on the other hand, there is in the human kingdom too. A king penguin might be a bit hard to draw in a tree though. I have heard about an eastern kingbird (found in the west) that could fit in, but local birds sounds like a good plan if you don't want to draw forever.

I love it!  Very clever!  Have you ever thought of making this into an xmas card?  I think birders would get a real kick out of it!

Can't believe this only just occurred to me: isn't the kingfisher a female? =P

You are correct - good eye as always. ;) Female belted kingfishers are more colorful, so I figured she'd be more attractive on the covers. Two kings and a queen, I suppose. =p
